Need a pumping dance party? This live mix should satisfy all your house, electro, techno, dubstep & slightly proggy desires. From another solid dance party at my weekly Friday residency, REBIRTH @ the Cardinal in Madison, Wisconsin. The crowd always seems to dance all night, literally right from the first beat of my first track, and this night was no exception. Great dancefloor energy all night and a bit more proggy than I usually play. Hope you all enjoy the set. Lots of new stuff, old favorites & surprises as well. Tracks/remixes by:

Finally! It feels so good to have a proper weekly club night in my own hometown. It's been about 10 years since I've had a weekly night where I can spin pretty much what I want with an amazing dancefloor & kick-ass soundsystem. Needless to say the Cardinal remodel is beautiful & if you're ever in Madison you can now find me there every Friday night for my weekly Rebirth night. I was originally going to edit this down to a 1 or 2 hour portion of the night, but I'm not even sure if/when I've had a full dancefloor right from the first beat of the first song. So I figured if the absolutely amazing crowd could dance their asses off for 5 hours straight the whole set should be heard in it's entirety. Who cares if it's a huge file?! There's some serious dance music history from the past 30 years spread throughout my mix. It's all about connecting the dots between cutting edge dance music from the past, present & future.

Back with a portion of a set from my weekly Sunday Soirée @Maduro (117 E. Main St Madison,WI, USA). Always a great time on Sundays in one of the most perfect bars on earth. Amazing beers & libations...a fantastic staff & a wonderful open-minded crowd. More of a house party vibe than bar vibe. This set was from a perfect smoky summer evening. It's got a little bit of everything on it, a bit more on the chill/eclectic vibe.
Enjoy! 100 Minute Live Mix (230mb/320k) Nick Nice-Live@Majestic 9.5.09September 06, 2009 10:25 AM PDT
Back with a live mix from my opening set for the L.A. Riots show @Majestic Theatre in Madison,WI. It was a truly epic night with amazing dancefloor energy from start to finish. People were dancing, jumping and getting wild in a way I haven't seen in ages. Good vibes! No tracklist but there's stuff on there by: Aeroplane, The Ting Tings, Lee Mortimer, Crookers, Plastikman, Joey Negro, Ray Mang, Bob Sinclar & many more. Hope you all enjoy it! 2 Hour Live Mix (320k/274.4mb file) Nick NIce-Live@UW Memorial Union 6.18.09

The University of Wisconsin-Madison Memorial Union Terrace is seriously one of the best places on earth to be in the summertime. When the sun is setting on the lake, a great band or dj is playing and the beer is flowing freely, there's nothing quite like it. As a local & an alumni I've had way too many crazy times down there for many years. That being said every time I get booked there it always seems to get rained out. This year I got my set started a bit earlier than schedule and actually got to play a full set before the floodgates opened for Andy Butler (aka Hercules & Love Affair). I ended up playing a set of a lot of my all-time faves, summer classics and tracks that remind me of the Union. Hope you enjoy the mix. All part of an awesome Summer '09 thus far... A 2 hour portion of my 6.5 hour set @La Luna in Poitiers, France. A truly amazing night with lots of champagne (thanks Sarah!), insane dancing & solid energy from start to finish. We even closed 1.5 hours past the legal stop time in defiance of their new fascist president. A seriously great time at one of my favorite places to play. This is from about the 2:45am-4:45am part of the night. Thanks to Jack for inviting me and especially to all the people who came out due to this podcast too! Music unites & saves us all... No tracklist available but in includes music by: James Brown, The Doors, Armand Van Helden feat. Common, Solid Groove, Switch, Olav Basoski, Plastikman, Ron Trent, Crookers, House Of Pain, Jaydee & many more. 2 hour+ LIVE Mix (118mb/128k) Nick Nice-Thundersnow

Thundersnow! Ever elusive but frighteningly powerful when you experience it. Come to Wisconsin in the winter to find out how much fun Climate Fuck (formerly known as Global Warming) really is... In the meantime you can enjoy my banging mix of Thundersnow anthems. Made during an actual Thundersnowstorm. Mixed live on 2 turntables using Scratch Live. No computer edits. Just pure explosive mayhem! 88 Minute Live mix (121mb file/192k cbr) NICK NICE
Empire Of The Sun - Walking On A Dream (Van She Tech remix)

A unique mix for kids that adults will enjoy too. So in addition to dj'ing a ton I have been babysitting my 2 nieces quite a bit. They're 2 1/2 and 1 year old and after hearing Barney's annoying drivel one time too many I decided to take action. I put together an odd selection of music and dialogue from my childhood as well as things that were just outright bizarre from well before my time. I wanted to make something that children would enjoy but adults would dig as well either from the irony or grooviness of the songs. From Johnny Cash with Oscar the Grouch to Mr. Rogers to the Pointer Sisters to Carole King to Helen Reddy to Bert & Ernie and lots of the Sesame Street crew. This selection has it all. If you have a kid I'm sure they'll dig it, my nieces loved it with the older one dancing around to many of the songs. And they now hate Barney! Frobble is a generic term for plastic bits and pieces of toys. It seemed perfect for all the musical scraps that I used to make this mix. It's by far the oddest mix I have put together ever.

Finally! Many people have been asking for me to post some of my old mixtapes. I'm happy to share one of my most requested tapes EVER as a full non-stop mix for the first time. No more flipping from Side A to Side B!!!

A mixtape classic from 1997 (or so)... One of my most requested old tapes has been rescued from the past. This was one of my first 'eclectic' mixes and now it can finally be heard without having to flip your tape to side b!
I don't have a tracklist but it's perfect for your late night or early morning vibes.
Cheers!
113 Minute Live Mix (155mb/192k) French Invasion 1 (a side)
June 07, 2006 03:16 PM PDT
Vintage Mix from 1993! Many people have been asking me for some of my old mixtapes so I figured now was the time to start to share them before they deteriorate completely. This is a mix from 1993 when I was living in Paris and had just begun to dj at the infamous Queen club on the Champs-Elysées. It includes lots of the big anthems at the time like Gat Decor,Hardfloor, Nightcrawlers, Capricorn/20Hz, Transformation, Zero Gravity & more... This is taken from the original cassette tape. I made it with 1 turntable and my 4 track tape recorder (I didn't have a full dj setup back then and it wasn't even a Technics 1200). I did all the mixes from the 4 track onto 1 master tape so the sound quality is not so hot. And we won't even talk about some of the mixes!! But it's full of loads of fun memories nonetheless. 47 Minute Mix (128k/43mb) French Invasion 1 (b side)
June 07, 2006 03:30 PM PDT
Vintage mix from 1993! The b-side to a classic tape of mine. Includes tracks by Capella, Jaydee, Beyond, The Good Men, Dance 2 Trance, Polygon Window (Aphex Twin), Illuminate & more... As with the a side it's a vintage mix so the sound quality and mixes are a bit spotty. But the music is still fun! 46 Minute Mix (128k/42.7mb) Nick Nice-Live@IQ 11.21.08

Finally back with a new party set for everyone, sorry it's taken me so long! I pretty much record all my sets but I only put up the ones where the vibe & music of the party were spot on. Needless to say the IndieQueer parties here in Madison are always a good time since they draw such a cross-section of party people. This party was a blast for me as people were dancing, screaming and getting crazy pretty much non-stop. So I decided to share my full set.
Hope you all enjoy it and it gets your own dance party rocking... Includes tracks/remixes from: Bloody Beetroots, Herve, Crookers, Kanye West, Count of Monte Cristal, Justice, Soulwax, Madonna, The Ting Tings, Loo & Placido, T2, Estelle, Rye Rye, Sinden, Kidda, Mr. Oizo, Hot Chip, Roots Manuva, Chew-Fu, Chromeo, Laidback Luke, Kelis, Radiohead and many more. 152 Minute Live Mix (209.2 mb/192k CBR) Thanks again for all the support and donations, feel free to send me a tip via the PayPal button at: http://nicknice.podomatic.com Nick Nice-Cardinal 100 yr. Anniversary Party 8.8.08

The Cardinal Bar is a true Madison (Wisconsin) institution. The building was built back in 1908 as one of the last railroad hotels. The bar and building still retain most of the features from when it was originally built. And believe me, you can feel the ghosts from the old tavern on a regular basis in there. The tavern & restaurant became a dance club back in 1974 and have been the city's favorite place to dance pretty much since then. It's also consistently been ahead of the curve with introducing new musical styles to the public, well ahead of the mainstream. From disco, funk, latin, house, techno and beyond; people have always come there to expand their musical horizons. I've had many people been asking me to post this mix so here it is from start to finish. Going from current club hits to underground bangers to classics from the past. I hope you enjoy it. Cheers!
Includes tracks/remixes by: Snoop Dog, Madonna, Fake Blood, Crookers, Rihanna, Age of Love, New Order, Santogold, Sebastian, Usher, Daft Punk, Chew Fu, Human Resource, Aphex Twin, Dubfire, Plastikman and many, many more... 182 Minute Live Mix (209mb file/160k CBR) Live@Cardinal (Madison, WI) 2.2.08

Back to kick off the new year with a mix to warm our dark, winter souls here in Wisconsin. We're in the midst of the worst winter ever in my city and we all seem to be collectively losing our minds. What better way to go crazy than with a rockin' dance night. This night was just the medicine we needed as the dancefloor energy was truly amazing. I had a blast despite a few computer issues. Pumping house, electro & techno with some small doses of 80's cheese are on the menu. Hope you enjoy it! As always please tip me for the music if you dig it. Go to the Paypal button on my site: http://nicknice.podomatic.com Cheers!

This was a hard earned gig... I literally drove through all the worst winter driving possibilities...dense fog, freezing rain, icy roads, and a blizzard to top it all off. So after having my life flash before me several times, after watching semis & cars flying off the road, I was ready to rock out. It turned into a full on party and this is my portion of what was known as The Nickmare Before Christmas. Thanks to Nick Gunz for being such a good host & throwing a great party. Hope you all enjoy the mix. It includes tracks by: Hardrive, Alan Braxe, Plastikman, Herve, Marshall Jefferson, Dubfire, Dusty Kid, Crookers, Ron Trent, Lil' Louis, Donna Summer, Giorgio Moroder, Chromeo, X-Press II w/ David Byrne & more... Lots of classics new & old! Thanks for everyone who's given me so much support & good feedback. Time for a vintage rave set that's been rescued from the dead!
December 01, 2008 07:07 PM PST
My only weekly gig is pretty much my favorite night to play as I get to play exactly what I want, no lame requests or annoying drunkies. Every Sunday at Maduro we close the weekend out properly here in Madison. Maduro is special because in these puritan times it's the one last refuge where you can openly smoke a cigar AND have a cocktail at the same time. No cigarettes of course but pipe tobacco is ok too. I'm a non-smoker and it's so sad to me too see how all the global smoking bans in the name of workers 'health' are killing both pub culture & café culture. What good is health is everyone's out of work anyway?? So every Sunday I play a very eclectic set of music where people come together for good conversation, great cocktails and a friendly ambiance. Sometimes it turns into a spontaneous dance party but usually it's just a nice group of people enjoying some of life's simple pleasures. I've been wanting to share a set from here for a while actually. So for those of you who can't make it down on a Sunday...light a fire, pour yourself a nice cocktail, smoke something tasty and enjoy... Includes tracks/remixes by: Herbie Mann, Cymande, Roy Ayers, Kool & The Gang, Nightmares on Wax, The The, Jose Gonzalez, Mr. Scruff, Michael Jackson, Pilooski, Todd Terje, Daft Punk, Hercules & Love Affair, Rick James, Pointer Sisters, Thievery Corporation & tons more as it's a full 3 hour set from the night. 200 Minute Live Mix (276mb/192k CBR) Nick Nice@Natt Spil 7.25.08August 12, 2008 11:35 AM PDT
There's nothing like a hazy midsummer night at Natt Spil (in Madison, Wisconsin, USA)... The music floats out the windows and it feels like a perfect block party with people (literally) dancing in the street. As cozy of a place as Natt Spil is in the winter it takes on a whole different vibe on a warm summer night.

The endless winter goes on here in Madison, Wisconsin...This is a live set from yet another snow filled evening with most people choosing to stay home and hibernate. The lucky few that were out enjoyed a nice herbal infused winter set that I ended up playing. Hope you all dig it! Any comments, questions or anything else should be directed to my mypsace page.

Natt Spil is probably the coolest bar/lounge/restaurant where I live. There's no sign, no phone & they only take cash. Featuring a wood fire oven and the most unique interior outside of Europe. It was originally an underground pot speakeasy but th city's smoking ban ruined our fun. But the spirit till lives on with great dj's every night, amazing food & even more incredible cocktails (try the Hi-Tea made with their own ginger vodka if you go).
This is a portion of my set from the earlier part of the evening. Lots of chill grooves with tracks by: Lily Allen, Common, M.I.A., Visioneers, Stephen Marley, Amy Winehouse, Ciara, Prefuse 73, Kia Shine vs Jan Hammer, Mary Jane Girls, Jill Scott & many more.

Pumping house & electro are the big items on the menu here (with some sprinkles of rock for good measure). When the sun doesn't come out for 3 weeks straight it tends to make you a little nuts.
